Herd Liquidation / Purchasing Opportunity

To those who are interested:

This horrible Texas drought is really having a major impact on our livestock and pocketbooks, as countless other farmers and ranchers in our region can attest. We checked our records and the two young heifers and Callie have not been registered. We will register them in the buyers name, so we don't have to do a transfer. We have not had hardly any green grass since early June and are having a difficult time finding good quality hay so they are not in the condition we would prefer--one of the reasons we are trying to get them to new homes before winter really hits. You can see the difference in our bull's condition from when we had grass.

The bull, Nate is a 2007 bull and had a semen quality test when we bought him that was very good--we don't have any calves from him yet as we didn't use him until this breeding season, but we have some friends that we loaned him too last year. They used him on their small Jersey herd, and are having some really nice calves out of him as we speak.
Feona and Penny are 06 cows and Feona has the Dexter cross bull calf on her. Anna and Callie are 07 cows. Diana is an 09 heifer and Flora is a 10 heifer. Callie is heavy bred and should be calving soon, Penny, Anna, and Diana should also be bred. Because we are in the grassfed meat business we were focused on numbers only the past couple of year. We weren't planning on selling out or raising anything to register for the next year as we just needed an increase in calf numbers for grassfed processing. We just wanted everything bred. We usually breed our first calf heifers to Dexters for easy calving. We also did a few crosses to try the hybrid vigor for grassfeeding. Thus the cross calf. This cross really has some potential for grass-feeding. We raise three different breeds of cattle, so we ran two different bulls with our cow herd this past breeding season to make sure everything got bred. If the calf comes out red it will be a Red Poll out of Nate. If it comes out any other color other than red it will be out of a Murray Grey bull. We weren't planning on having to sell these. This is our core grass-fed Red Poll herd, the rest we are going to slaughter to get our grassfed meat business through winter.
We hope to have these sold by Mid-December. If not we may start processing some of them. These aren't show cattle, but they are very easy going and the bulls liked to be scratched. My wife and I can do anything we want to with them in the pasture. We're asking $11,500 for the group package. We will take care of health papers and have bull soundness exam done once we receive a deposit. There is one more young cow that I would probably throw in as a bonus that may have some potential. She is from the Andrew Harrington herd in Comanche, TX.
We have a second herd bull from the TJ Currier Bama herd. His BD is 12/21/04. I bought him before he was weaned, and brought him home at weaning. He has some milking genetics and is the reason I wanted him in our herd. We will include him in the package for $1,000 more. I haven't included a photo of him but he is in good condition and in the pasture with some of our Jersey dairy cows. We feel like this is a pretty reasonable price for a grassfed Red Poll herd, especially with cattle prices as high as they are at market right now.
